Philanthropy Events
Let’s talk about Anchor Bowl, Anchor Splash, Delta Gamma, Delta Jamma, Cub Sights, and Do Good Week, to really show all the things Epsilon Phi do to support our philanthropy.
Anchor Bowl: Each fall we host Anchor Bowl', which is our flag football tournament open to all individuals from within the Loyola community. Those who participate in this event have a great time having some friendly competition, while also contributing to our fundraising efforts for Service for Sight. We also do our best to cater to people with diverse interests who may not be interested in flag football by incorporating other fun mini games/events, such as halftime! We organize fun games like "Red-Light Green-Light," where the winner will receive a prize. Lastly, we also offer raffle items for people to enter and potentially win exciting prizes that have been donated by our local alumnae group and/or local businesses.
Anchor Splash: Anchor Splash for Epsilon Phi is an aquatic extravaganza that combines water-based games and activities. This event is incredibly versatile, taking place in either a pool or featuring a mix of some fun field games. Anchor Splash can range from pool relay races and synchronized swimming contests to fun water-themed contest events on the field. Anchor Splash is an absolute blast of an event that also helps contribute to our fundraising efforts!
Delta Jamma: Battle of the Bands. Through this philanthropic event, the Epsilon Phi Chapter is able to work with Loyola music students to put on a spectacular music festival taking place on Loyola's campus. Bands and solo artists are able to perform in an exciting musical competition. Delta Jamma is a fun night of live music, raffles, and more!
Cub Sights: The Delta Gamma Epsilon Phi chapter collaborates with the Lion Club of the Greater New Orleans area to go to local K-12 schools and provide vision screening services for children. Cub Sights aim is to identify existing or potential vision disorders in children up to the age of 18, with a primary focus on those aged 1 to 6, and to inform the parent or guardian of their child’s results. We understand the importance of early detection and intervention when it comes to rectifying or mitigating vision problems, which can really make the difference in preventing blindness. By taking part in this initiative, we're making a real difference in the lives of young children that can be pivotal for their overall success in their academic journey and beyond.
Do Good Week: Do Good Week is a nationwide initiative led by Delta Gamma Foundation that embodies our organizations commitment to service and community. Our chapter takes a unique approach to it by focusing on the educational and informative aspect of Service for Sight as our core mission during that week. We aim to educate the Loyola community about the importance of supporting Service for Sight and the visually impaired and blind community as a whole. Throughout Do Good Week, we host engaging tabling events to raise awareness about a range of topics, such as service guide dogs, proper etiquette, the importance of eye health, and early detection and intervention in vision-related issues. Do Good Week allows us to unite with our national foundation's vision and make a positive impact on our campus community.
